Allen Eskew – Class of 1966

Architect | Civic Leader | Cultural Visionary

Allen Eskew, Class of 1966, became one of Louisiana’s most respected architects and civic leaders. After graduating from Holy Savior Menard, he earned a Bachelor of Architecture from LSU (1971) and a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley, later co-founding the New Orleans firm Eskew+Dumez+Ripple.
For more than 40 years, Allen shaped Louisiana’s cultural and civic landscape through projects ranging from New Orleans riverfront redevelopment to award-winning chapels and cultural spaces. Under his leadership, his firm earned more than 25 national awards and 100 state and regional honors, including the prestigious AIA National Honor Award in 2012.
Honored as LSU College of Art + Design’s Distinguished Alumnus in 2013, Allen was celebrated not only for his design excellence, but also for his mentorship and belief in the power of diversity, creativity, and community.
Though his passing in 2013 was a great loss, Allen Eskew’s influence endures in the skylines he helped shape, the students he inspired, and the values of faith, service, and excellence he lived so fully.
