7th - 12th Grade

HSM encourages active study and exploration of all the resources in the library. The library’s goal is to support the curriculum of the school by providing access to current, adequate, and appropriate information resources. The mission of the library is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats and instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading.  The library provides a wide variety of print and non-print media.  Included are print and electronic books, periodicals, newspapers, and audiovisual materials.

The library is open from 7:15am to 3:15pm and is for use by Holy Savior Menard students, faculty, and staff.  It is open for student use before school, during breaks, lunch periods, and after school.

To help raise funds for library materials and Accelerated Reader rewards, the HSM library collects Box Tops for Education, Community Coffee Proof of Purchase Seals, and Coke Caps.  Please e-mail Mrs. DeLacerda for more information on these programs at mdelacerda@holysaviormenard.com.

Accelerated Reader Program
All seventh and eighth grade students must meet a required AR goal each nine-weeks.  Each student will receive an individualized AR goal per nine-weeks based upon the student's reading ability, reading speed/fluency, and previous AR performance.  All students have taken the STAR Reading test, and teachers have met with each student to determine his/her individual AR goal for the first nine-weeks.  Students should be reading a minimum of  20 minutes a day.

Students are encouraged to be proactive and to meet their Accelerated Reader goal early each nine-weeks.  Students are rewarded for meeting their goal each nine-weeks with an end-of-the-year fieldtrip.  All students who have met their Accelerated Reader goal EVERY nine-weeks will be invited to attend.   I also like to encourage students to read more than required, and I reward those students who DOUBLE their Accelerated Reader goal each nine-weeks.  This reward will vary throughout the school year.  The double points reward this second nine-weeks is a dessert and a movie in the library!

If you have any questions regarding the Accelerated Reader program or need assistance setting up your Home Connect account, please feel free to e-mail, call, or stop by the library.

The library is open from 7:15am to 3:15pm each school day.
