Academic Support

Holy Savior Menard addresses individual needs of students identified with exceptionalities according to the guidelines for Catholic Schools in the state of Louisiana. Students must have a recent (within three years) professional assessment on file. Classroom teachers through Holy Savior Menard’s Academic Support Program provide modifications for students identified with individual needs that are within the realm of 504 accommodations. HSM offers individualized intervention techniques such as preferential seating, extended time on testing, oral testing, and tutoring. HSM’s Academic Support Program utilizes a school building level committee (SBLC) and, as necessary, the Diocese of Alexandria’s educational diagnostician. Students and parents meet annually with the SBLC to determine the individualized plan for these students. If your child has a type of disability or special condition that you feel might affect his/her performance in school, we urge you to contact the Academic Dean.

Learning Center

The aim of the Academic Support Program is to provide the least restrictive environment in which students can achieve academic success. A Learning Center is available on campus to aid students in achieving their academic goals and to help teachers with providing accommodations. The Learning Center is primarily used for any students who need additional help in understanding their school work. A full time teacher is available to help students with individual needs plans as well as others who may need help with a particular assignment or subject. HSM also has a Title I teacher provided by the Rapides Parish School Board who is available for students one afternoon each week.
