125th Anniversary Celebration

125th Anniversary Celebration

In 1892, the first Catholic school for boys in Alexandria was constructed and named the St. Francis Xavier Commercial College. In 1914, The Providence Academy for Girls opened and later became Providence Central in 1949.  In 1922 the St. Francis Xavier Commercial College was renamed Menard Memorial in honor of Father Menard who opened the first school for boys.  In 1967, the boys from Menard Memorial and the girls from Providence Central were combined in one new location named Holy Savior Menard Central High School.  This is the legacy -- 125 years of Catholic secondary education -- we celebrate.
